Kevin Sparkman

Kevin Sparkman is the first Nashville-based hire upon Syntax Creative’s move to Music City in the summer of 2019. He comes to Syntax with extensive mass communications experience both in and outside of the music industry. Sparkman’s musical ties deepened while cutting his performance teeth studying Commercial Music at Nashville’s Belmont University under the private tutelage of drummer Chester Thompson (Genesis, Weather Report, Phil Collins, etc.), to then full-time professional touring after graduation. His music business endeavors began with a short stint at CCM Magazine (Salem Publishing) in the early-mid 2000’s, which, combined with his playing and touring experience brought Kevin to Verge Artist Agency where he managed and booked headlining touring Christian artists.

Eventually, Sparkman would land the opportunity to take these experiences and bring them together to perform a General Manager role at fledgling Beatmart Recordings, started by former Gotee Records co-founder Todd Collins—which allowed him the opportunity to first cross paths with Syntax Records CEO Tim Trudeau. Growing his communications skills, Sparkman then answered the call to work more intimately with the Church, taking a Communications Coordinator position with a downtown Nashville congregation which in time opened the door for a Director of Communications post with the Tennessee Conference of the United Methodist Church in 2009.

Seemingly coming full-circle, Kevin returned to Salem Communications in 2014 to work alongside the former CCM Magazine marketing director and other previous colleagues, and one year later accepted an offer to be Managing Editor of CCM Magazine and New Media Manager for Todays Christian Music—establishing the legacy Christian music brand’s footprint and persona as it completely exists in today’s digital age. Through his many experiences to date, Kevin has worked with some of the top artists and companies in entertainment, earning their trust to help define and further the goals of their music, messages, and missions.

Kevin and his wife Kimberly live in Spring Hill, TN, and are active members in their Franklin, TN church where they serve on the worship team and with children/youth.
