The Gospel Music Association‘s mission is to expose, promote and celebrate the Gospel through music by propelling the Christian & Gospel music industry through education, advocacy, research, and preservation.

Founded in 1964, the GMA focuses its efforts on a past, present and future model. Through the GMA Foundation and the GMA Gospel Music Hall of Fame the Nashville-based organization aims to preserve the legacies (past) of those that have blazed the trail for Gospel music. Through the GMA Dove Awards it seeks to support and bring awareness to the best and brightest in the current (present) Christian and Gospel music industry. Focusing on the future through the annual training event, IMMERSE, part of the GMA’s mission als0 seeks to develop up-and-coming artists, songwriters and music business professionals.

Additionally, the GMA acknowledges that these efforts can’t accomplish nearly as much unless they don’t do it with two key values in mind: community and ministry. As their mission states, it recognizes that the reason for membership and events is simply to provide a vehicle for those that are proclaiming the powerful message of the Gospel—knowing the Message has a much greater impact when we work together in a united effort to expand its reach and influence.
