Compiling four years of music written before and during his work with the Steep Canyon Rangers, Aaron Burdett’s album Take The Good showcases his signature troubadour storytelling and Americana. The focus track, “Path of Roses,” is a joyous fast waltz with the tender promise, “If I had the power to ease your way… I’d lay you a path of roses.” Burdett stumbled upon a melodic motif Bill Monroe used on “Sitting Alone in the Moonlight” nearly 70 years ago and shaped it into a sweet love song.
