DESCRIPTION:
“B Funky” is just a fun tune that really lets us stretch out and improvise in the key of B. Bluegrass players often think of B as the ‘blues jam’ or ‘mash’ key, but we wanted to take it in a completely different direction. This tune has a unique feel that blends funky grooves with a little jazz and Americana flavor—something fresh and different but still rooted in the tradition of jamming. It’s one of those tracks that just makes you smile and have a good time while playing or listening.
KEY SELLING POINTS
- Colby Laney and Danielle Bishop were both born and raised in the Blue Ridge mountains, just outside of Asheville.
- Bishop has won many fiddling titles, was the youngest fiddler to win Fiddler of the Festival at Fiddlers Grove, and has been featured in the The NY Times.
- Laney has performed at the Grand Ole Opry, the Ryman, and almost the entire lower 48 states before the age of 25; has written several chart topping songs, including the #1 "Rich Man's Daughter."
- Laney was awarded IBMA Emerging Artist of the Year and Song of the Year with the Group Volume Five.
- The duo have been performing together as Laney and Bishop since early 2023; they also love and share three labradors, of which at least one is present at most of their shows. (The duo's acronym is L.A.B.)
