MARK BISHOP
“Balulalow”
DESCRIPTION:
“Balulalow,” was originally a 16th century Scottish hymn, (title translates to “lullaby”). While the song itself is almost 500 years old, Mark Bishop’s introduction to it was far more contemporary, first hearing it from a musician by the name of Gordon Sumner, better known as, Sting. “He actually sang it in a more authentic way,” notes Bishop, whose vocals lean more “mountain-y.” There’s nothing bluegrassy about this version, “The music is so large, it evokes the power and majesty of Christ’s birth.”
