Johnny Britt lands USA Today/Mediabase #1 single

October 8, 2020

Earlier this week jazz trumpeter, writer/arranger, and artist in his own right, Johnny Britt, moved-up 8-spots from #9 all the way to #1 with his single “Mo Jazzin” feat. Norman Brown on the USA Today/Mediabase Smooth AC Chart. The title track to his most recent LP, “Mo Jazzin” (Aug. 14, 2020, J-Jams Records—STREAM/BUY) has been on the Chart for several weeks running.

Britt is no stranger to chart success. His previous full-length album, So Hot (Oct. 19, 2018, J-Jams Records—STREAM/BUY) garnered three #1 Billboard Contemporary Jazz singles with one remaining at the top position for eight consecutive weeks. In addition to his success as a jazz artist, Britt has co-writing, arranging, and producing accolades in collaboration with some of the biggest names in the music business. Johnny was co-producer for the Emmy Award winning mini-series The Temptations. As lead trumpet, Britt has found himself on stage supporting such artists as John Legend & Common (2015 Oscar Awards show), Annie Lennox (2015 PBS special), Josh Groban, David Bowie, Quincy Jones, Luther Vandross, Aaron Neville, Harvey Mason Jr., Boney James and many more. He is the founding member of Impromp2 (Motown/Mojazz Records), a group that fused jazz, hip hop, rap and soul and reached #1 status on the UK Soul charts and performed at The White House for President Bill Clinton as well as the 1997 Olympic Games in Atlanta.
