Mountain Fever Celebrates 2014 Success with New Music!

Mountain Fever Records is celebrating a very successful 2014 while ringing in the new year with chart-topping hits and the promise of great new music! Several of the label’s artists made it onto “Best of 2014” lists, Detour ended the year with a #1 song, and 2015 finds four artists on SiriusXM Bluegrass Junction’s Top 10 of the Most Played Tracks for January.

Michigan-based bluegrass band, Detour, was among the favorite of many critics and radio programmers for 2014. Their latest project, Going Nowhere Fast released in early 2014, debuted on Bluegrass Unlimited’s National Survey Top 15 Albums chart in July where it has remained for seven months. The album has also spent six months on SiriusXM Bluegrass Junction’s Most Played Albums chart. In addition, the album was included among David Morris’ One Critic’s Picks for Bluegrass Today. The great news continued for Mountain Fever Records and Detour when Bluegrass Today released their 2014 Bluegrass Radio Airplay Chart, compiling the songs with the most plays for the entire year and announcing that Detour came in at #1 with “Too Blue To Have The Blues.”

Dave Adkins of the hit bluegrass duo Adkins & Loudermilk, also had a very successful year with his 2014 solo release, Nothing To Lose. The album was also included among David Morris’ One Critic’s Picks for Bluegrass Today, landed in the #1 position on the Roots Music Report’s Top 50 Bluegrass Album chart, has spent the last eight months on SiriusXM Bluegrass Junction’s Most Played Albums chart, and appeared on Bluegrass Unlimited Magazine’s Top 15 Albums chart. This album produced five chart-making songs including “Pike County Jail” which hit #1 on SiriusXM Bluegrass Junction’s Most Played Tracks and Roots Music Report’s Top 50 Bluegrass Song charts, and is #7 on Bluegrass Today’s 2014 Bluegrass Radio Airplay Chart. Two tracks from the album also appeared on Singing News Magazine’s Gospel chart.

Canadian-based fan and festival favorites, The Spinney Brothers kicked off 2014 with a #1 onBluegrass Unlimited’s National Survey Top 15 Albums chart which placed No Borders at the top of the for two months. The brothers followed up that successful run with the release of their newest CD, Tried & True which has been listed among the year’s top releases on 2014’s Best: Daniel Mullins vs. Billboard and has also produced a favorite with radio programmers, “My Music Comes From Bill,” which is currently sitting at #11 on Bluegrass Today’s Monthly Songs chart for January.Tried & True, which was released in October, will be featured on SiriusXM’s Bluegrass Junction this week on Track By Track with Kyle Cantrell.

Additional Mountain Fever Records chart-makers on the Bluegrass Today 2014 Radio Airplay Chartwere Grasstowne with “Cold Dark Ground” and Darrell Webb with “Flying South To Dixie.” The new release by Breaking Grass, Just As Strong, has been a huge hit with listeners of SiriusXM’s Bluegrass Junction, coming in at #1 on December’s Most Played Albums chart and Most Played Tracks chart with the album’s first single, “Shine.”

SiriusXM Bluegrass Junction’s Most Played Tracks chart for January reflects three artists taking up the top two spots with Breaking Grass and The Spinney Brothers tying for the #1 spot with “Shine” and “My Music Comes From Bill,” respectively, while Darrel Webb’s “Bad Old Yesterdays” tied for the #2 spot. “I’m Not Home Yet” from Detour and “I’ve Got The Moon” from The Crowe Brothers round out the top 10.

Volume Five, who were nominated for IBMA’s Gospel Recorded Performance with “Learn To Fly” from their 2014 CD of the same title, will release new music when Voices drops on January 20th. This highly anticipated album includes the first single, “Crazy Night,” now out to radio. Bluegrass supergroup, Sideline, is currently in the studio working on their new project with an expected release in March.
