The New Label Gets Distribution to Bring Hip-Hop to New Heights
High Society is ready to take their music to a new audience, and now it has a partnership with Syntax Distribution to do just that. The landmark deal is a natural fit as Syntax has its roots in underground, genre-breaking urban music.
High Society brings to the table former Cross Movement Records artist J.R. as well as 2009 Stellar Award nominee Sho Baraka, who started the venture.
“I’ve had the pleasure to watch Mr. Baraka grow from a relatively unknown rapper into an entertainment mogul starring in films, directing his own films, and now launching his own media platform,” says Syntax CEO Timothy Trudeau. “He has become a dominating scene-controller within a very short time.”
High Society also showcases the musical stylings of two more talented artists. Suzy Rock offers spiritually fly hip-hop R&B. Swoope is a rap artist who’s worked with several notable names in hip-hop including Lecrae.
“I’m excited to move in a direction that is best for our team and company,” Baraka says. “To join forces with an established company such as Syntax is a important step in the right direction. They are a proven entity with integrity and experience that any start-up organization could benefit from. We are looking forward to them handling our music as if was the finest China.”
Trudeau adds, “In addition to being High Society’s exclusive worldwide digital distributor, my team and I are excited to utilize our own experience in running a record label to serve High Society as they launch their own.”
Syntax Distribution and High Society is set to release the follow albums in 2012: The Collective on January 1st; the Sho Baraka Presents Hello Revolution EP on February 7th; and, Suzy Rock’s debut EP Vanity Suxx in March.
