GivingTuesday is December 3 – Facebook & Instagram ideas for artists
November 23, 2019
As Thanksgiving approaches, it’s the perfect time to be thinking about how to give thanks by giving back and better yet—allowing the chance for all of your fans to rally around a cause that you truly believe in.
First, what is GivingTuesday? According to GivingTuesday.org, it’s “a day that encourages people to do good. [Since 2012] it has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity. Whether it’s making someone smile, helping a neighbor or stranger out, showing up for an issue or people we care about, or giving some of what we have to those who need our help, every act of generosity counts and everyone has something to give.”
> Now, how can labels and artists utilize their Facebook and Instagram platforms to be involved, and to get their fans engaged, too?
Facebook Stories Fundraiser Sticker (NEW!): this must be attached to a specific existing Fundraiser, not just a charity/organization in general. You can share your own or someone else’s Facebook Fundraiser, so the pressure isn’t on you to launch it.
Facebook Video or Facebook Live Video + Donate button or Fundraiser link: Posting a video with a link to a Fundraiser link or with a Donate button is a great way to drive a sense of urgency and true understanding of your passion for the cause.
CONTENT IDEAS:Start with your passion, decide how you want to express it, and then find the content format that fits.
Check out Instagram Head of Music Perry Bashkoff’s Movember Fundraiser
FUN FB LIVE or FB VIDEO: make it fun by going live and using the immediacy to spur on donations, or record an engaging edited video that will go viral (either can include the Donate button to a general charity or a link to a specific FB Fundraiser) HEARTFELT VIDEO or HEARTFELT NEWS FEED POST: tell your fans, from your heart, why this charity means so much to you – nothing is more effective! FB STORY SERIES: Don’t forget to utilize this important tool! Check out Instagram Head of Music Perry Bashkoff’s Movember Fundraiser; he’s using a Facebook Fundraiser + Facebook Fundraiser Sticker in Stories, posting regularly to make sure everyone sees it and donates. FB GAMING VIDEO + DONATE BUTTON: if you have an artist particularly involved in Gaming please reach out to me directly for a more involved conversation.
Read more success stories here… but of course your own ideas are always going to be a better fit so please dream up whatever kind of post you feel will communicate your passion for the charity the most!
Fans love interacting with your passions, especially when there’s a cause attached to it—in this week of thanksgiving, how can you leverage this season to capture maximum support for a charity you love?
