Napster To Power iHeartRadio All Access

December 1, 2016

On the heels of several new partner announcements aimed at driving long-term company growth, music streaming service Napster today announced a new partnership with iHeartRadio to power its upcoming on-demand streaming service, iHeartRadio All Access Powered By Napster. Napster also rolled out enhancements to its award-winning mobile product, to bring more music to fans around the world.

“At Napster, our focus is on partnering with companies across verticals that share the same passion for creating great customer experiences and powering emotional connections every day,” Mike Davis, Napster CEO said. “Adding iHeart to our portfolio of world-class partners is an honor. We’re excited to work with iHeart and other industry partners including UMG, Sony WEA and the indie music label community to help grow the proliferation of streaming music and reach more people with music beyond our traditional D2C business.”

As part of its new deal with iHeartRadio, Napster will power the technical backend infrastructure for iHeartRadio All Access, one of two new on-demand streaming services announced at iHeartRadio Music Festival 2016 in September. Available now in beta on iOS and Android devices, the two new services will be fully available on mobile and desktop in January 2017.

“We’re excited to launch our new services in beta today and introduce on-demand features and functionality to the mass market like no other service available,” said Darren Davis, President of iHeartRadio. “The Napster team is a great partner for us, and with their technology capabilities, scalability of their platform, flexibility, and deep knowledge, we can deliver a best-in-class on-demand music streaming service to our hundreds of millions of listeners across the country.”

Napster also announced an update to its mobile app that takes personalization to the next level, introducing new features that deliver a more personal, custom music listening experience for listeners, from music recommendations to the audio itself. Now available on iOS and Android, Napster members will be able to take advantage of product enhancements including:

  • A simplified and personalized Home Screen with suggested playlists based on a listener’s favorite music and what’s trending among friends in “Playlists For You.”
  • Personalized New Album Releases, highlighting the best newly-released music albums for a listener based on their favorite artists and genres.
  • “Your Napster Mix,” a personalized playlist featuring a collection of newly-released tracks based on a listener’s favorite artists.
  • An exclusive, personalized “EarPrint” in partnership with headphone-maker EVEN, which lets members create a customized audio experience by tuning sound precisely to each ear. Enter for a chance to win a pair of EVEN award-winning headphones now through Dec 15.
