ANDREW CRAWFORD
The Lonesome Season
DESCRIPTION:
About focus track, “How Many Miles of Track” | Known as the strongest, fastest, and the most powerful man working on the railroad—(or, at least, that’s how legend remembers it)—John Henry, the subject of Andrew Crawford‘s “How Many Miles of Track”—was more than mere man as he embodied an entire community of African American slaves that risked their lives for the building of the Chesapeake & Ohio railways in the late 1800s. Crawford pays a poignant homage to this man, movement, and idea of making the ultimate sacrifice for the common good.
