Spotify Clips is an exciting feature that allows users and artists to create short, engaging video content within the platform. These video clips are designed to enhance the listening experience and offer a more dynamic way to connect with your audience.
Basically, it’s a TikTok or Reels within your Spotify. This is a great place to get personal with your fans. The 30-second videos can be used to show behind-the-scenes footage, live performances, or quick stories behind the songs. They can express your creativity all while keeping the music front and center. These videos are attached to specific songs, ensuring that viewers are directed to the music you’re promoting.
Why Should You Use Clips?
With every new marketing tool that becomes available for artists, the question is, “why.” Why should you add another step to the release process? Here are three reasons:
- Keep your music in the spotlight longer. Our attention spans are abysmally low. Using Clips, you can increase your visibility within Spotify’s platform and build connections with new fans that keep them coming back for more.
- It’s all about your music. Yes, you can post similar content on social media platforms, but with Clips, there is no expectation for you to do anything other than promote your music. You aren’t competing with other content creators, trying to diversify your content, or avoiding being too sales-y. The audience is there to listen to music, so it might as well be yours.
- Increase your metrics. Fans can watch Clips on Home, the Now Playing view, Countdown Pages, release pages and more, making it easier for them to find your music and create lasting connections with you as an artist. These opportunities for discovery and the engagement that comes with it can dramatically increase your streaming and monthly listener numbers.
Ways to Use Clips in Your Release Strategy:
Build anticipation and boost engagement throughout your release cycle with Clips. Use them to:
- Generate excitement for upcoming releases by teasing your song before it drops
- Promote albums or singles by encouraging fans to stream, save, and explore your catalog
- Connect on a deeper level by sharing the stories behind your music to inspire fans to dive further into your artistry
