Benson’s “Lay ‘Em Down” is their take on NEEDTOBREATHE’s 2009 hit song. Kristin Scott Benson, 2023’s IBMA Banjo Player of the Year and her mandolin master husband, Wayne, hope people who have never heard this before will assume it was always intended to be bluegrass. Wayne notes that “‘Lay ‘Em Down’ is such a great reminder of grace, and how it’s free for the taking. The world is heavy these days. It’s a gift to be able to lay down our troubles.”
