“Forfeit” is a song about the push and pull of letting someone out of your life. It’s more-or-less a song about a one-sided relationship, and trying to figure out what’s good for you, and yet trying to reconcile deep emotional ties to someone who didn’t feel the same. You want them, but you know they’re no good for you.
