A twist on the old proverb, “nothing ventured, nothing gained”, came to Chris’ mind out of the blue. The idea of putting too much effort into a lost cause is relatable, whether that’s in relationships, work, or other areas in life. Everyone’s been there at some point. Once Chris started writing, the song took on a bluesy feel that really clicked in the studio.
