Set with an old-time swing and featuring just a stripped-down strings feel (with guitar, dobro, fiddle & bass), guitar-whiz Rick Faris and accompaniments by Ronnie Bowman, Dale Perry and Eddie Faris, “Can’t Build a Bridge to Glory” is a little bit of gospel with a lot of implied attitude. Conjuring images of sitting in-the-round on earthen canvas amid the glow of a nearby campfire, this throwback tune is just as delightful as it is poignant in message.
