Syntax Creative Brings Independent Music to Public Libraries Through New Partnership with Hoopla Digital

Syntax Creative today announced a new partnership with Hoopla Digital that will bring its catalog of independent music to public library systems across the country. Starting this month, library patrons nationwide can stream Syntax-distributed titles on Hoopla with nothing more than a library card.

“Hoopla makes it easy for people to hear the music we believe in,” said Syntax CEO Timothy Trudeau. “If you have a library card, you can discover every artist we stand behind.”

The agreement makes Syntax’s genre-spanning catalog—including Gospel, Hip Hop, Bluegrass, and more—available alongside Hoopla’s existing offerings. By adding independent music to the same digital catalog as eBooks, comics, and films, the partnership opens a new channel for discovery while reinforcing the role of public libraries as community access points for culture.

“At Hoopla, we’re committed to helping libraries connect their communities with meaningful content,” said Catherine Zappa, VP of Digital Acquisitions at Hoopla Digital. “Partnering with Syntax allows us to bring even more independent music to our users.”

For Syntax, the move reflects an ongoing mission to connect artists and audiences wherever they are—whether on commercial platforms, specialty outlets, or now, the public library system.
