“Painkiller” is about someone who experiences pain as a result of an issue-ridden relationship. The individual, despite the circumstances of their relationship, is filled with hope and love due to their faith. This allows them to numb their own pain while trying to heal the pain inflicted by their significant other, even though that pain is ultimately the source of both of their suffering.
