On Old Man, Young Man, Embleton captures the tension between who he was and who he’s becoming, and “Not As Far” sits right in that shift. The old man keeps everything meaningful at a distance, pushing it off to someday, while the young man starts to see it show up in real, everyday moments. The song doesn’t resolve the gap between them, but it narrows it, turning what once felt out of reach into something already unfolding, closer than he thought.
Kevin Embleton is a Nashville-based singer-songwriter, producer, and frontman of the indie folk-rock project Embleton. Since launching in 2015, he’s released three albums. His sound blends the warmth of folk and Americana with the structure of indie rock, shaped by life on the road. He also has a project called “figures” with Jacob Montague and writes and produces with Messenger Music.
