KEY SELLING POINTS
- In 1963, Jimmy McHugh, a part time vocalist and full time journalism student at Des Moines' Drake University, took a swing at launching a new dance craze called The Kangaroo. He also released this song by the same name on local label, Success Records.
- McHugh (not to be confused with the famed film composer) was billed by Success as a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and vocalist with a Bobby Darin-esque image.
- Sadly, The Kangaroo never took off, but that didn't stop McHugh from working the rest of his life as a performer and music educator.
