Johnny Britt’s first single for 2022 is a takeaway from his 2020 album, Mo Jazzin, with “Is It Cool?” (feat. son Josh Britt). While the song was originally recorded by Boney James (“Deep Time”), Britt wrote/arranged his vocal stamp while on a recent tour with Maxwell. James’ original “Deep Time” melody can be recognized by Britt’s homage and performance on the flugelhorn—a great accompaniment and rounds-out the song nicely with the addition of his romantic vocals.
