The New Zealand chill-hop beat-maker known as Terror Firma drops another EP project of new vibes, this one entitled Dear Rectangle. “Love God” begins with a hauntingly hypnotic intro, blending somber guitar and bass with melodic vocal chops over dusty vinyl sounds. It then takes a startling turn into what becomes a genre-bending vision of future gospel funk over the refrain “we are in need”. The song is a representation of the overarching call of the Dear Rectangle EP, to encourage listeners to seek hope through love, and through God, not our rectangular devices.
