In 1963 The Five Du-Tones burst onto the R&B scene with their smash hit, Shake A Tail Feather. It was right back to the dance floor for their next One-derful! offering that August. “The Gouster” was tailor-made for hip Southsiders who identified with that style of attire; loose-fitting, baggy silhouettes reminiscent of 1940s gangsters, wide trousers, wide ties, and luxurious sweaters accented by large-brimmed hats, pointed-toe shoes, suspender braces, and brass buttons.
KEY SELLING POINTS
- Formed in Chicago in 1962 The Five Du-Tones are most famous for their regional hit song, Shake A Tail Feather.
- Years after its release, the song was covered by Ray Charles in the blockbuster film, The Blues Brothers (a nod to the films Chicago roots). It has since been covered by dozens of artists and appeared in countless films and TV shows.
