DESCRIPTION:
The Elizabethton, TN Blue Grays were an independent semi-professional Negro League team. They played “barnstorming” baseball from 1935-55 and were typical of many such regional teams. Tales of their abilities and escapades are still being told, even though they played under difficult conditions. The main riff for the song is based on Blind Blake’s amazing “Police Dog Blues.”
