Mississippi-based Volume Five—a casual jam band that began in 2008—has now grown into one of bluegrass music’s more popular and unique acts. The band’s tight instrumentals and vocal harmonies have earned the group two IBMA Awards, numerous nominations, and many accolades. Among them, are two Top-5 Billboard bluegrass charting albums (Drifter, 2016; Milestones, 2018), with their last album For Those Who Care to Listen (also 2018) reaching #12 on the Billboard bluegrass chart. “It’s Gonna Get Better” feels like a simple and sweet, comforting conversion between friends, an encouragement to anyone going through a hard time. This exciting new tune features Frank Ray on mandolin and harmony vocal, Dalton Harper on lead vocal and guitar, Patti LaFleur an upright bass, Pete Brown on fiddle and harmony vocal, and DJ Shumate on banjo.
