LINDA LAY
“The Jingling Hole”
DESCRIPTION:
Linda Lay returns with her songbird-like pipes, this time on a haunting tune based on the tale of “The Jingling Hole.” Not a light subject for a songstress, the story of the Hole was a seemingly bottomless pit or cave located in East TN used as a makeshift “live burial site” during the Civil War. Prisoners—on both sides—were taunted, tortured, and thrown into the hole, usually while still alive.
