While they may, in fact, be, even casual listeners will note that picking at this level—the kind heard on Rick Faris’ “Moonshine Song”—aren’t always synonymous with every bluegrass song or performance. Faris brings his own brand of ferocity to the kind of stringwork expected in acoustic music, and “Moonshine Song” is just another exceptional example of the level many attain for, but few reach.
