“Losing My Religion” is a harrowing tale of loss on many levels. The story begins with a preacher-man who “stood fast in the right,” yet, regardless, lost his son. The song then turns to the sobering reality of the subject’s questioning of God, and all that he had known his entire life. Unfortunately, many might be able to identify with this saga, and the haunting production puts driving, hill country music to ones struggle with justifying such tragedy—and why God allows bad things to happen.
