“Starlet Iris” is a melancholic country ballad about a man who is separated from his lover, ends up in jail, but still longs for her. The lyrics evoke a sense of loneliness and regret, set against a backdrop of winter snow and a dark sky. Harry Clark came up with the name “Starlet Iris.” “After letting it eat at me for long enough, I hashed this number out one night in Arkansas.”
