Above all else, Thomas Cassell is a mandolin player, so it’s important that every record he makes has at least one original mandolin instrumental. He’d been playing around with this melody for a few years, but it really came to life while recording the album. The track title, “Old Methuselah,” is one of many nicknames given to the Douglas DC-3 (also C-47) aircraft back in its day.
