Bryan McDowell, fiddler of Section House, remembers a talented banjo student who left town by train after only a few lessons. Years later, on long drives, his thoughts return to the boy, imagining boxcars, canned dinners, and old campfires. McDowell never saw the boy again, but pulled the inspiration for this story from him. In those quiet miles, a frailing banjo appears, carrying the sound of “Hobo’s Lonesome Blues” and a life always on the move.
